Back To Peru!!! 2009

We have been back in Peru for a week now and have been busy with our training school.
The 5 day school is for poor women who live in desperate poverty. They live in cardboard houses with dirt floor. The shacks they live in are the size of an average bedroom and they may have one or two lights. These women survive on between 2 and 5 dollars per day. They have nothing, and thier children have even less. No health care, no transportation, no running water, no telephone, no sidewalks, no parks, no playground, no library, and worst of all, not enough food. This training will allow the women to make up to 10 dollars a day now, giving them and thier children a hope. One of the students is illerate and was overwellmed at times because of Gods goodness .

These are the poorest of the poor we hear about. We have been coming to this community for 4 years. Over the years, we have fed over 2,000 people in this community of Sol Naciente (sun rise). This year we brought something better than food, we brought our first vocational training school, a week of intensive training. 12 women attended, over 40 hours of teaching. We brought 4 master weavers to teach them how to weave on the loom, and we brought 4 looms for the group. On the looms they can create purses, tapestries, placemats, hand bags, and eventually, blankets and rugs. The women learned embroidery as well which adds elegence to the pieces.

They also learned how to make hand made paper...stationary, gift cards,

I could go on and on but I am tired right now after a week long blitz. I have had a bad fever for 2 days and need prayer. We celebrate even in the midst of this for all that God has done. More to come....
