TO THE LOST.......

We took a couple days of rest after the week with pastor Wilma and awaited the arival of a team of ministers from the US, Canada, and the UK. When the team arived, we hit the groud running and went back to the poor for a day to minister to the children. Most on the team had never seen such intense poverty.

We left the next day for the city of Ica, a city known for witchcraft. It´s even in the promotional guidebooks and travel literature as a city of witches. Not a problem for Jesus though, because we can out love the witches any day and what the witch doctors charge money for, Jesus does for free.

We went into the city with much prayer and intercession. Halfway to the city, as we were all praying in the bus, I had a vision of warring angels going ahead of us and clearing the way for the team to preach the gospel. The first night, Jim Drown preached how a seed must die and fall to the ground to produce life, offspring, and fruit. He shared his testimony of burying his first child in Peru and how that changed his life.. "Because of that, I know have many thousand spiritual children!". Jim has given his life to service for the Lord. You can visit his ministry at www.drowninhislove.com . There were over 200 people to come forward for first time salvation. After The call for salvation we invited any of the sick to come forward. There were over forty documented healings including one woman who hearing was instantly healed!

The 2 days we went to the main plaza in Ika to preach the gospel. Not in word only, but in power. Over a hundred people were instantly healed which set the stage for over 300 people to give their lives over to Christ. When I was praying for oneperson, several would gather, then when the one was instanly healed, the faith of the people increased and they would come closer. 6 to 10 people at a time would pray to recieve Christ and we would then encourage them. One young boy testified he heard Jesus speak to his heart that he was Gods son. We broke the power of withcraft off of several people. I exclaimed "the witch doctors charge you for money then place a curse on you so you have to keep coming back." Many in the crowd testified that their conditions worsened after going to the witch doctor. One woman said her life fell apart after she went to the witchdoctor. Her health and even her job suffered as a result. She had gone to church but nothing happened. When we prayed, we broke all the curses and spells, cast out the devils and she was instantly changed. I could see in her eyes she was totally delivered and set free. She was like Mary Magdeline of the bible, set free by the power of Satan, and now free to give her life and love to Jesus. While we were ministering on the streets, it caused such a ruckous that the police were called and TV station spontaneously came to televise the healings that were taking place amoung the multitude gathered. The police questioned Jim and with the Lords help, not only did we get permission to stay and minister, but they even unexpectedly helped us get into a maximum security prison where Jim and others prayed for many for salvation and God showed His love and mercy by healing almost all the sick. (Jim didn´t have his ID with him so they miraculously let him in with just a flyer announcing the crusades with his picture!) We went to the prision the next day as well, with over 25 prisioners comming to faith in Christ. We are buying all the new belivers bibles. Many wonder why we do things like this. It is simple, Jesus said to do it.

We shared at another church on sunday. One woman was instantly healed of extreme pain in her body! I exhorted the congregation to focus more on Jesus and less on Religious stuff. We must be carful of the "navel gazing christian" mindset that tends to lead to criticism, division, and quarraling. We need to get our mind off ourselves and get out and spread the love of Jesus, bind up the broken hearted, proclaim liberty to the captives, and feed the poor.

Another personal highnote was that our 4-year old Spencer responded to call of Jesus at the crusade. Completely on his own, he raised his hand and said he wanted to pray and make Jesus his Lord. I thank God for Gary Oates who delivered a simple, yet powerful gospel message that even a child could understand. The next day we took dune buggies on the sand dunes outside of Ika. They even gave us sandboards to play with.

TO THE POOR............

Just hours before we left Cusco, Jennie was able to lead a young man to the Lord. He said he had been praying for 20 years for a sign from the Lord. She was able to spend over an hour explaining who Jesus was, and what he does for us. After hearing the good news, this man prayed for salvation and confessed that he was going to make Jesus the Lord and God of his life. He wrote Jennie a powerful letter the morning when we left. This man was truly saved!

When we arrived back to Lima we spent the next 4 days ministering to the poor in the outskirts of town. Pastor Wilma feeds over 300 street children each week and teaches them the bible. The first day we went to one of her feeding churches. The building was still under construction with no roof or floor, just walls. Javier, our interpreter, and I were were praying while standing on the walls and we both felt the love of the Lord and the compassion of Jesus. Immediatly we both new that we were to bring food to the community and feed the poor there. We had a big banner made that said ¨JESUS ESTA AQUI¨(JESUS is here) . We fed over 400 people that evening. As they were eating, I preached a simple and clear gospel message. I told them that they didn´t have to carry their sin, sickness, and heaviness. ¨That is why Jesus caried the cross!!!¨ I exclaimed, ¨He carried your sin and sickness so that you don´t have to!!¨ I explained that ¨Jesus is here" doesn´t mean he is in a building, but rater that he is in every believer. Then I chalenged them I asked them if they could point to themself and say ¨Jesus is here". more than 40 people came forward to recieve Christ into their lives! After we prayed for them, one woman came forward and said she had been healed of a blood disease. I asked her how she knew and she said as she prayed for salvation, she felt heat all over her body and the pain she had in her went away. Another woman came forward and said she had been delivered of a heaviness and as she prayed, she felt all the heaviness go away. Isn´t Jesus wonderful!!




Also that week we went and visited the children in several different districts. We brought lots of toys and candy. In addition to the gifts, we shared how Jesus has a plan for each of their lives and how he will protect them. The Holy Spirit was rushing at one point and there was a tangible presence of the Lord in the building. The children were more excited for the Lord than they were for the candy!!Praise the Lord!!!! Our boys were in charge of giving out the toys and candies. Many of the toys were their own toys they packed in Alaska. I don´t know who liked it more, our kids or the kids getting the toys.


The people in these communities live in incredible poverty. Most of their houses are only 10´by 10´. The area is so dry that no plants live whatsoever. I mean none, zero. The landscape is as barren as the moon. But to see the children run into their shack and show mom and dad their toy........And to see mom and dad rush out to thank us.......wow!

Our boys have been doing wonderful on the trip. Each day this week we have spent ove 3 hours traveling through Lima´s wonderful trafic. They are troopers! A personal high point for me this week was singing all four of them to sleep as Jennie & I soaked in the presence of the Lord.

At the end of the week, we preached at Pastor Wilmas church. We encouraged them to ¨keep digging" because there is always more treasure in the field. Why else would the man have bought the field? (See Matthew 13:44.) We felt like family when we were with Wilma and her church.

To the high places


Cusco and Machu Pichu have long been the spiritual capitol of the Andes. One morning I went up to pray and proclaim at a temple ruins. When I got there I met a man and I told him I was going to pray. He acted excited and braught me to one of his ¨hot spots¨ I supose. I began to pray and intercede for the land. I was imediately filled with the Holy Spirit. At the same time, the man began to chant around me and pray over me. I turned around and said, ¨I will pray for you¨. It was clear that he was a medicine man or witch doctor. I layed my hands on him and proclaimed the truth of Jesus´s diety. After a few minutes, and to my amazement he declared, ¨Jesus is the light of the world¨ .

We must realize the spirtual authority we possess simply as friends of Jesus and children of God. We must magnify God and proclaim the truth of His goodness. Then the words of Jesus will be fulfilled ¨when I am lifted up I will draw all men unto me¨. Our job is to lift up Jesus, (proclaim his death, resurection, holiness, goodness and loftyness ) His job is to draw men (and women and children) unto himself.

We took a train to Machu Pichu where I knew the Lord had somethin planned for us. After our day tour of the ¨lost city¨of machu pichu, we checked into our hotel. It was smack dab between a raging river(life) and a rail road track(provision). And the best part, there was a jail right across the street. I wanted to get in that jail!

Later, as I was talking to a worker about hiking up a particular mountain he said ¨take off your watch or you will fall to your death¨ I told him that Jesus is Lord of all and more powerful than any other god or gods. He seemed suprised and said ¨You are christian¨ As the Lord would have it, the following night I was preaching in a local church. The believers there were encouraged and the Lord released many powerful prophetic words. The local jail was empty at the time.

When we arived back in Cusco, we found a connection to a local orphanage. It had 25 wonderful boys. We were able to share with them how much God loves and protects them, and how he has a plan for their lives. We gave them each a soccer ball and some candy. It was complete mayhem with 25 boys and 25 balls! Our boys loved it and Spencer didn´t want to leave because of his new ¨friends¨

There are many spiritual mystic pilgramages to Peru because of what they call ¨the energy here¨. I asked several tour guides, what do they do with the ¨energy¨? Do they visit the poor? Do they pray for the sick? Do they encourage the downcast? Do they visit the orphans? Do they declare eternal life in Heaven? No! It is the same gi´me, gi´me, gi´me mindset that has plagued humanity, and even religion, from the beginning. We all need to think less of ourselves and think more of others. God gives us talents, money and influence not for our benifit, but for others (which eventually leads to His Glory). It is a true statement that the more you give, the more you recieve. Instead of keeping everything God gives for ourselves, lets give more of it away. Giving is the key to recieving.

Our last day in Cusco was awesome. We went strolled around town and ended up at a big childrens playground. It was quite evident that most peruvians have never seen a family of 6 from America. They are a warm, friendly people and as soon as we would start talking to someone, a dozen or so people would gather around.

Later, we went to the plaza to enjoy the afternoon sun. A young man came up to us to sell his artwork. I told him I wasn´t interested in buying paintings but I was intersted in where he was going to spend eternity. I realized he was a young con man, not an artist at all. He knew I knew he was lying to us and seemed quite shocked when we invited him to have pizza with us. (sidenote: If you have never seen Les Mesarables, the movie, rent it, better yet, buy it!) As we ate dinner with the young man, the sweet Holy Spirit took over. The man had never known that God loved him nor that he could have forgiveness instead of guilt for his sins. He pleaded with us to go and pray for his family, but God had something else planned that night for Jennie.......

BLESSING IN PERU

WE HAVE ALREADY SEEN GODS HAND MOVE MIGHTILY. JUST GOING TO THE PARK WITH THE CHILDREN BRINGS OPPORTUNITY FOR MINISTRY. WE SHARED JESUS WITH A YOUNG MAN AND THEN A FEW MINUTES LATER WERE ABLE TO ENCOURAGE ANOTHER BELIVER THAT WE MET. EVERYONE WE MEET ASKS ¨HOW DO YOU LIKE THE FOOD¨ MY FIRST THOUGHT IS USUALLY THE WORDS OF JESUS, ¨I HAVE FOOD THAT YOU DON´T KNOW ABOUT¨. THIS SPEAKS OF THE NESSESSITY TO FOCUS OURSELVES ON THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN. WE CAN CHOSE TO FOCUS ON OUR LIFE IN CHRIST OR OUR LIFE THIS WORLD. ASK THE LORD RIGHT NOW TO TRANSFORM YOUR MIND TO FOCUS MORE ON HIS KINGDOM.

WE HAVE BEEN STAYING IN A HOLE-IN-THE-WALL HOSTEL IN CUSCO. WE HAVE MET WONDERFUL FRIENDS AND WERE EVEN INVITED TO A BOYS BIRTHDAY PARTY. EVERYONE LOVES THE CHILDREN. WE WENT TO ANCIENT INKA RUINS AND CLIMBED A LONG SET OF STAIRS TO THE ¨sun temple¨. THERE WERE 10 ECHO CHAMBERS WHERE UNDOUBTLY MANY INCA PRIESTS HAD WORSHIPED. I COULDNT HELP BUT DECLARE INTO EACH ONE IN TOUNGES. I DONT KNOW WHAT THE OTHER TOURISTS WERE THINKING BUT WE WILL LEAVE THAT TO THE HOLY SPIRIT.......MOMENTS LATER JENNIE WAS ON TOP SHOUTING PRAYERS TO HEAVEN AND WORSHIPPING JESUS. LATER, THE BOYS AND I SPENT SEVERAL MINUTES IN COMPLETE SILENCE. THEY LOVED IT. GOD SPOKE ¨I DO NOT GET TIRED OF BLESSING MY PEOPLE¨.
