Attention Church:
Mothers with children need homes! $450 puts a roof over their head!! Would you let your mom live in a tent?

We are traveling to Pisco, Peru for a week-long blitz to build as many of these prefab shelters (see below) as we can. We have already purchased 3 and with your help, several more. You will make history as you help reconstruct after one of Peru's worst earthquakes. (July 2007). Hundreds of thousands are still living in tents or simply on the streets. Church, these are your brothers and sisters and Christ said it quite plainly when He said:

"Whatsoever you do for the least of these, you do unto Me".

Wow, let's show Gods love and do a little self-denial to bring the Kingdom of God to Earth. We need the money in less than a week. Please Western Union the money to: Jordan Hess, Lima, Peru. After you wire the money, please email us at 3moose@xyz.net and give us the number from western union. You can also give an additional $100 which will provide a solar light system for the small homes. Thank You for caring, giving, loving. We are waiting.

We love you all and thank you for your prayers!

Many people are calling on the name of Christ. We need your prayers to further increase the kingdom of God. It is wonderful to be around the Spirit of Christ as he draws people to himself. We have been busy going to the highways and byways and "compelling them to come in". Isn't it wonderful that God wants his house filled???? His compassion is amazing. We are seeing street kids come to Christ, old men, old women, teenagers, tough guys and even mockers. The Lord's Spirit was so heavy this past Thursday that we didn't even have to preach! People were coming up and just standing in front of us and waiting for us to speak. Then when we were "done" sharing on faith in Christ, they would still stick around. We would then teach on the kingdom of heaven, Just like Jesus did. People were glued to us and found real freedom in the simple message of the bible. "You receive by giving" I shared to a group of 20 or so. A little while later a man came up to me and said he had been robbed on New Years Eve and by listening to us, he had found forgiveness and closure. WOW! The power of the gospel!! Another time, a man came up and pulled us aside and said he wanted to give his life to God and stop drugs. We spent 20 minutes with him, telling him what it meant to follow Christ. We never "candy coat" the gospel of Christ and that is why I asked him again if he wanted to follow Christ. He said this was the day for him. As he prayed, tears streamed down his cheeks. Please continue to pray for these new believers. We have given them all the word of God so they can continue their walk

The Mockers Come........

It's quite normal to get mocked at least every other day while on the streets. But whoa to him who mocks. "Are you for us or against us??!!" I yelled at close range to one of them. Silence after that. Other times I simply turn the crowd on the mocker... "why is he trying to disturb us?" I will ask the crowd who will then quickly turn on the mocker and "escort" him and keep him quiet. Occasionally someone will begin preaching along side us, and we encourage that. When this happens, we usually slip away quietly. We feel it is better for the Peruvians to get activated and get a heart for reaching their nation.

Hungry for the word of God!!
One day last week, as we were giving out bibles to the new believers, a crowd formed and they began pressing in on us. The crowd got so big, the police became involved and asked us to leaved. They said we could share on the corners. This was the first time the police actually gave us permission to preach publicly in the market place. As it turns out, the people at the market actually like us preaching there. Just like in the movie "Gladiator" we have "won the crowd" and therefore, we have won our freedom (to preach). This favor is wonderful and new since last year. Pray that the authorities continue to allow open-air ministry like this. It is fruitful. Each Saturday night we have meetings where new believers can come and receive more ministry. We have had about a dozen people come on these nights. It is wonderful to here their testimonies and getting to know our "family".

Thank you and continue to pray......

Hundreds come to Christ in the Marketplace!

It is always amazing what God does in the marketplace! Over 150 confessed faith in Jesus Christ in the last few days. The harvest is ripe in Peru. Most people think Jesus and Heaven is far away, and Jesus' blood was only for people 2,000 years ago! "If Jesus is far away then Hope, peace, love, and joy is far away!" I told a crowd on the streets. "When Jesus is in your life, when you have a relationship with Him then these things are IN your life!" When they hear this simple message, people can't resist.......They want a relationship, not just old religion anymore. We gave out over a 200 bibles and 100 invitations to this Saturday night's meeting. So keep praying for this ministry so these new seeds will be watered, grow, and produce lasting fruit.

Stopped by the Police!!!!Clown comes to Christ!!!!
As we were praying for a group of about 5 or 6 people, a police officer came over and asked us to come with her. I asked Javier (our interpreter and local preacher who has an incredible street ministry in Peru) what was going on....We were escorted to a PA system where she said "use this to preach" AMAZING GRACE! Within minutes a group of 40-50 had gathered and the ministry team from Alaska pounced like young hungry lions. Dozens came to Christ. In addition to the miracle of a regenerated soul, several notable healings occurred on the streets as well. Many healed instantly of arthritis pain, headaches, knees, and backs to name a few. We give God Glory!

400-500 people eat, dance, and are encouraged!

Over the weekend, Soul Safari ministered to communities in Comas Peru. Thanks to the church in Homer, Alaska for providing food and toys to these communities! We could (and should) write a book about what this kind of ministry does. It is not easy to catch the spirit in a Blog like this. Anyways, this was our third year feeding this community with Pastor Wilma. She has a building under construction and has a heart of absolute solid gold. A pure ministry, without the name, fame, budget, or glitter of "name" ministries in America. She is the pure, undefiled kind, that go out, day after day, year after year, and minister to the helpless. Soon her orphanage/women's shelter/church/school will be finished. This was the first time we fed the community in the building. We had a breakout session where mothers received prayer, Fathers, and kids. After, everyone came together for dance and then were served a wonderful meal. Jennie noted one little girl, instead of drinking her soda, dipped her finger in it instead, to "prolong the pleasure" She may have never tasted soda in her life and surely at the most once a year. . We were encouraged by several locals who told us of the positive impact these feeds have on their community. As a matter of fact, there were at least 20 men at this feed, the first time the fathers have shown up, ever. We look forward to continuing our relationship with this community. We have a vision to break the cycle of poverty in this area by helping with a small, local economy. Perhaps a loom for making blankets, ovens for baking bread, jewelry making tools, or the machines necessary for hand-made paper for stationary and greeting cards. We can then find a market in the States, and thereby, help our struggling brothers, sisters, mothers, and children. Currently, the average wage in this community is $1.50 per day.

200 kids receive toys, toothbrush, snack, ministry

We traveled to another community to minister to a couple hundred children. In addition to the children, many parents came as well as teenagers watching from the fringe. The entire team ministered words of encouragement and Jenson (our 10-year-old son) ministered through a skit about the "sticky" effects of sin. We danced, prayed, and gave out gifts to these impoverished children, for many, this was their only Christmas gift. Thanks to our friends in USA who gave many toys to make this possible. Because of outreaches like this, Jesus is lifted up and many children (and parents) make decisions for Christ. Wilma then teaches them each week how to walk out their faith.

More vision in 2008!

Father, in the name of Jesus, let us have more vision from this time forward. Let us see heaven and release what we see here on Earth! AMEN

Peru's first "Kids Crusade"! Over 2,000 in attendance!

December 29, 2007 marked a day in the history of Peru. Several locals told us no one has ever done an event like this in Peru. "Many come for the adults, but this is the first time anyone has come for the children" on Pastor told us. This was a vision the Lord gave us a year earlier (see last years blogs). To have a festival for families and children. And a party it was!!!!!!........2,000 breakfasts, lunches, candy, toys, hats, braclets, baloons, whistles, clowns, face painting, fireworks, and FREE MEDICAL CARE.

We brought 2 medical doctors with us and they were able to treat 178 families. We also brought medicines for intestinal parasites and administered almost a thousand doses! In addittion, we taught them how to prevent intestinal parasites. The event went great and every child was blessed and encouraged with over 4 hours of music and messages. Many thanks to those who gave into this ministry and into this event. Thanks for your prayers, finances, toys, and encouragement.

"Never this much warfare over an event"
Many of us involved in the planning of this event had an onslaught of Hell released on us over this event. On two ocassions, the event itself was canceled! But we stayed the course and found victory! The morning headlines were : "Terrorists leave red flags in 4 locations" It was clear to us that the enemy wants control over this geograpical area. Even 20 years ago it was controlled by the Shining Path terrorist group. But light shines in the darkness, and the Lord wants this region for His glory. The children are the future and so we will continue to bring in the light of the Gospel.

Going for the one.......

After the festival, we were led by the Spirit to a remote village up on the side of the mountain. It was a bumby ride on a dirt road about 3,000 feet abouve the valley floor. At first, there was only one little girl to meet us. "If one person is all we find, it was worth the trip" I said to Cindy Bettingfield, a wonderful woman of God joining us on the mission. More came, however, and we gave medicines, toys, bibles, and prayer to a dozen children and adults.

Not so fast........
Just as we were getting ready to leave, a truck came up the mountains carying most of the villagers. We chased the truck up the road on foot, throwing loli-pops to the travelers. The truck stopped and we offered to pray for the sick. "We don't come with just words, but with the demonstration of the power of God" I yelled. Three people were instantly healed, one of headache, chest pain, and heart pain. Lets just say Jesus got their attention! They were now open to our message. A simple message of love and purpose in life. They're hearts melted and nearly the whole truck wanted to renew thier faith in Jesus. Cindy led them in a prayer of repentance and over 15 souls called on the name of the Lord that day.
